If saving the world isn’t your thing, but animation is, than 2012 still holds plenty of excitement, with sequels to the Madagascar and Ice Age series’s both set for release.
First, in July ‘Ice Age: Continental Drift‘ finds its way to the cinema, with Manny, Diego and Sid floating adrift on an iceberg ship battling (yes, more!) pirates along the way. Then, in October, ‘Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted‘ sees the gang join a travelling circus to try and get home to New York.
Also coming soon is ‘Dr. Seuss’s: The Lorax‘, where 12 year-old Ted (voiced by Zac Efron!) must win the affection of the girl of his dreams (voiced by Taylor Swift) by discovering the mysterious, and grumpy, Lorax.
Finally, the end of 2012 sees two blockbuster releases. First, in August, Pixar, the magical minds behind ‘Toy Story’, ‘Up’ and ‘Wall-E’ release their new film, ‘Brave‘. It tells the story of redheaded Princess Merida, whose sense of adventure sees her become caught up in a great adventure on the Scottish Highlands.
Then, in time for Christmas, ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey‘ offers another, long-awaited chapter to the Lord of the Rings series, as a young Bilbo Baggins embarks on a quest to reclaim a treasure taken by the dragon Smaug, encountering orcs, goblins and wizards along the way.
2012 looks like its going to be a year to remember at the cinema!
