Recently I went to York and managed to wangle a cheeky trip around an old chocolate factory – this made me very happy indeed!
The factory has been turned into a museum- the best kind of museum, because it’s all about chocolate and they give you free tasters as you go around.
First up we learnt about how cocoa is grown, and how it’s turned into chocolate!
Then we got to taste the cocoa drink that the Aztecs liked – it was YUK! Imagine chocolate mixed with chilli and washing up liquid!
Then we got to learn about how chocolate bars were invented and made, plus I found out that there was once a man whose job was ‘Smartie Polisher’. Weirdest. Job. Ever.
I also got taught how to be a Chocolate Taster, but to be honest I already have years of practise at that…
Finally, we got the chance to make our own chocolate lollipops – you can see mine below!
I covered it in every kind of chocolate sprinkle I could get my hands on… pretty sure the Aztecs wouldn’t have approved!
