England Flying at Commonwealth Games

commonwealthEngland have so far won 21 medals at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, winning five gold medals, ten silver medals and six bronze, doing incredibly well despite many of the most well-known stars not taking part.

Fran Halsall was the first English competitor to win gold, setting  a British record of 26.24 seconds and beating the current world champion in the women’s 50m butterfly.

James Goddard was equally impressive in swimming, regaining the 200m backstroke title he claimed in 2002 by achieving a new Commonwealth record.

In gymnastics England managed to get a one-two in the men’s all-round gymnastics final, with Luke Folweel narrowly beating Reiss Beckford. They almost acheived an English one-two-three, but sadly Max Whitlock just missed out on bronze.

And Steve Scott and Stevan Walton made history today by winning England’s first shooting gold of the Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
