2010 saw McFly take a brave change of direction in their music, teaming up with Taio Cruz on their new album, Above the Noise.
Above the Noise saw them move away from their well-known pop-punk, guitar-based sound and towards slightly more synth, dance based music.
Despite the risky change, the album was highly praised and did well across Europe, peaking at number 20 in UK and 41 in the European Top 100 Albums.
They are another artist to have saved themselves for later in the year, with their album not coming out until November, although their first single of the year did come out sooner. Party Girl was released in September, reaching number 6 in the UK singles chart.
Their second single Shine a Light did even better, reaching number four in the UK charts and making it McFly‘s fifteenth Top 5 hit!
And in true superstar style, McFly have now got a film to add to their CV too!
At the end of November, they released a short film on DVD called Nowhere Left to Run. Starring as themselves – but with vampires thrown into the mix! – the film is also full of all their latest music to make sure it’s a must-buy for any McFly fan!
So do you think McFly have done enough this year to be declared Artist of the Year? Let us know!
