Apart from being instrumental in the continuing rise of Justin Bieber as one of the biggest superstars in the world, Usher has also had a busy year releasing his own music, once again with great success.
In April in released his brand new album Raymond v Raymond, his sixth sutio album. The album debuted at number one in the US Charts, making Usher the first male artist since Eminem to have three consecutive number one albums. It has also gone platinum after selling over one million copies!
The album also reached number two in the UK Albums chart as well as being incredibly successful at numerous other countries worldwide too.
Oh, and it was also nominated for a prestigious Grammy Award for “Best Contemporary R&B album”. Not too bad!
OMG, featuring will.i.am, was the first single from the album that Usher released worldwide with huge success. OMG reached number one in Ireland, New Zealand, the UK, Australia and the USA.
The song also helped Usher establish quite a number of records this year. OMG was his ninth number one in the United States, making him the first 2010s artist to collect number one singles in three consecutive decades, and only the fourth artist of all time to do this! And he is the third artist ever to have at least one number one song from five consecutive albums!
And – just in case he needed anymore proof of how popular his music was! – Usher has received endless prestigious awards this year, mainly for “Best R&B Male Artist” and “Best R&B Album”.
