He may look more like a character from Street Fighter, but Rafa Nadal has established himself within the very top tennis stars of all time, after becoming only the seventh man in the sport’s history to win all four of the big Grand Slam tournaments.
The US Open trophy was the only Grand Slam title that had escaped Rafa’s clutches, who had already won Wimbledon, the Australian and French Opens. However, that ended on Monday when he beat Novak Djokovic in four sets.
It took him just under four hours for him to win in four sets, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4, 6-2. And this Grand Slam victory means he now has nine Grand Slam titles overall.
He joins Roger Federer, Andre Agassi, Roy Emerson, Rod Laver, Don Budge and Fred Perry as the only players to have won all the Grand Slams.
