Half Term activities @ RHS Wisley

During half term, learn how to make your garden wildlife friendly, with sowing and planting activities and by creating homes for bugs, birds and batsRHS Kids

Children, parents and grandparents will find something to entertain them at RHS Garden Wisley this half term. As well as more than 200 acres to explore, free activity cards to pick up at the garden entrance and a winter trail to do as a family, children can get back to nature at a series of fun, wildlife inspired activities.

Butterfly art and craft activities
Saturday 13 & Sunday 14

  • Pick up a spotter guide and see how many different tropical butterflies you can find in our Glasshouse, before making your own grass-head butterfly in the Clore Learning Centre (10am – 3.30pm)

Wildlife at Wisley
Monday 15 – Friday 19

  • Get back to nature and learn how to make your garden more wildlife friendly.
  • Have a go at sowing and planting activities to attract native butterflies, or make a comfortable home for birds, bugs and bats.
  • Takes place in the Clore Learning Centre (10.30am – 4pm).

Saturday 20  – Sun 21

  • Learn about butterfly life cycles in the Glasshouse, before making your own caterpillar stick-puppet to take home.
  • All activities are free with normal garden entry and take place undercover, whatever the weather.

Flights of fantasybutterfly
To 28 February

  • Discover a tranquil paradise where exotic butterflies take flight among tropical plants in the warmth of the stunning Glasshouse at Wisley.
  • See a wide range of colourful, exotic butterflies as they settle in among the beauty of our world-class tropical plant collection. Wander underneath the palms and watch the butterflies as they perform courtship flights and feed from plant nectar and fruit.
  • Learn all about the butterflies from informative panels and discover which of our tropical plants you like best. Can you spot a Blue Morpho, or get up close to a Tree Nymph?
  • Suitable for all ages, this is an experience that is guaranteed to banish the winter blues.
  • Normal garden entry applies. There is no additional cost to see the butterflies in the Glasshouse.

10am – 3.45pm (last entry 3.30pm)
