The Winter Olympics at Vancouver

VancouverVancouver will be hosting the Winter Olympics throughout February, attracting over 5,000 competitors from over 80 different countries. All the alpine skiing and sliding events will be taking place at the famous resort of Whistler, where the Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains represent 8,000 acres of skiable terrain and some of the best skiing conditions in the world.

The Olympics present 15 different winter sports over 16 days of events, including all-time favourites, such as alpine and cross-country skiing, bobsleigh, ice hockey, ski jumping, snowboarding, figure skating, curling and luge.

These events will be taking place in nine separate competition venues.

The Opening Ceremony of the Games, which are always spectacular, take place this Friday at 6pm Canadian ime (about 1am here) – never mind, you can see the highlights on Saturday

We will bring you pictures from the games, and update you on how Team GB are performing.
