New look line up for A Victorian Festival of Christmas!
The Victorian era is considered the golden age for Christmas and children’s literature and with this in mind Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is inviting visitors to step back in time at a Victorian Festival of Christmas and explore their very own Wonderland.
Meet the colourful characters of your childhood memories including Peter Pan, Mary Poppins (with kite flying, chalk paintings and chimney sweeps) Beatrix Potter, The Secret Garden (with farm), Alice in Wonderland, the Pied Piper and also enjoy readings from Dickens and Sherlock Holmes.
There will be snow in the air and underfoot as you take a stroll down the Victorian Street to where you will find rest and merriment (and maybe a real ale?!) at Fagin’s Tavern and enjoy bawdy Music Hall-style entertainment.
A Victorian Father Christmas, complete in green dress, will be giving gifts from his grotto aboard HMS Warrior 1860 and roasted chestnuts, mulled wine, carol singers, music, costumed characters and performances at every turn will bring the bygone Victorian age to life.
Explore a glorious bazaar of arts, crafts, festive food and drink and discover unique Christmas gifts for your loved ones at our Christmas shopping markets.
Admission also includes entrance to the world-class attractions; HMS Warrior 1860, HMS Victory, Mary Rose Museum, National Museum of the Royal Navy, Action Stations and a boat tour around Portsmouth Harbour.
