Discover fun, excitement, adventure, and most important of all – chocolate – at Kew Gardens this Easter.
Explore the interactive Maya trail around the Gardens, and then make something special to take home at a chocolate making and craft workshop.
Here’s some of the fun things you can do this Easter:
Maya chocolate adventure trail
Embark on an exciting Maya chocolate adventure at Kew Gardens this Easter.
Magic, fun, yummy chocolate and 3,000 years of history are waiting for you on an interactive trail around the Gardens. Collect crayon rubbings of all the Mayan symbols to solve a puzzle.
On your journey explore the famous Palm House, offer an origami flower as a gift to an ancient Maya god, add your wish to our cacao wishing tree, and make something special to take home. Along the way you will hear the story of the ingredients the ancient Maya used for a special chocolate drink.
Easter Weekend at Kew Gardens
Even more fun activities are taking place over Easter weekend, including our annual Easter egg hunt for our younger visitors.
Take part in our chocolate egg hunt on Easter Sunday, meet the friendly characters from Climbers and Creepers, and win a delicious chocolate egg from our Easter bunnies. Get your face painted with an Easter design or a symbol you’ve discovered on the Maya adventure trail.
Families can ride the Kew Explorer land train to hear a special tour exploring the history of chocolate and old Maya myths, or enjoy themed storytelling sessions. Find out more!
Visit the drop-in chocolate workshops where families will learn to make objects from chocolate.
Get hands-on through sculpting and moulding chocolate whilst learning about the huge variety of plants that can be involved in making chocolate – such as sugar cane, chilli, cinnamon and vanilla.
