It is time for Eid Festival – a traditional Muslim festival celebrating the end of Ramadan, a month of fasting that is observed by millions of people within the UK alone. Once again Eid in the Square, organised by Muslim groups and the Mayor of London, comes to Trafalgar Square to invite everyone to join in the festivities and celebrate the theme of unity.
This is a great festival, full of activities and events, in which you learn about the culture of Islam. There will be art, music and performance poetry, with live acts including Polish Egyptian hio hop artist Quest-Rah, African drum band Nahini Doumbia and acoustic sufi rock and soul British group Silk Road.
This festival also features Qu’ran recitations and call to prayer, as well as exhibitions, souks and market stalls.
Throughout the day there will be countless events organised specifically for kids and adults, teaching them all about Islamic culture as well as allowing them to taste all the delicious Eid food!
This festival is throughout Sunday afternoon, from 2:30 to 6:30 pm and is free for everyone to attend.
