Wrap up warmly for the Horniman Museum’s traditional Christmas Carol Concert, get in the festive spirit at craft events dedicated to making Christmas crackers and experience a Horniman revival – a Christmas Science Show for families.
- The Crystal Palace Band and the English Baroque Choir lead the carols for the museum’s popular annual Carol Concert on Sunday 13th December.
- The free event opens in the Horniman Gardens from 3pm with a Santa’s Grotto, a Festive Market and refreshments before the concert at 5-6pm with full audience participation!
- The evening has been generously supported by Energie Fitness, the new gym in the heart of Forest Hill.
- This year the Friends of the Horniman have chosen to raise money for the redevelopment of the Horniman Gardens. This project is part of Evolution 2010, a wider scheme to redevelop all of the spaces devoted to the natural world at the Horniman. It will harness the Gardens’ potential to teach us about the natural world, with a planned learning and community base, new planting schemes and enhanced interpretation giving insights into the flora and fauna of London and beyond. The project will restore historic features like the bandstand and sunken gardens, and improve access and facilities, to ensure that the Gardens flourish as a place of “recreation, instruction and enjoyment” for another century.
