Saturday 6 June

Down in the jungle
1.30pm to 2.30pm and 3pm to 4pm
For 5+ year olds:  Discover the creatures lurking in some of Roald Dahl’s poems and make your own animal print to create a truly
terrifying picture!
£2 per participant.

Drop in between 11am and 4pm
Learn about the splendiferous work of the RSPB in the Harapan rainforest in Indonesia, helping to save the home of the Sumatran Tiger, Hornbill and Agile Gibbon.
FREE for Museum visitors.

Sunday 7 June

Revolting Recipes
2.30pm to 3.30pm
For 6+ year olds:  Join Tiffany Crouch, head chef at Café Twit to make Magical Truffles and a Red Bubbler drink from The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me.
£4.95 per participant.

Thursday 11 June

Gipsy House Garden open day
2pm to 5pm
Visit Roald Dahl’s garden at Gipsy House.  The garden is open to raise money to support the National Garden Scheme and The Roald Dahl Foundation.  Homemade teas will be available.
£5 per adult and free for children.
The entrance fee includes entry to One Church Street garden in Great Missenden.

Saturday 13 June

Discover Dahl’s Archives
12.30pm, 1.30pm and 2.30pm
For 10+ year olds: A behind-the-scenes look at our archive store which houses Roald Dahl’s manuscripts and letters, with Collections manager and archivist, Jane Branfield.
Free for Museum visitors.

Sunday 14 June

Chocolate decorating
40 minute sessions between 11.15am and 3pm
Suitable for all ages: Decorate your own chocolate bar with help from local experts, The Chocolate Source.  Not pre-bookable.
£3.50 per participant.

Althorp Literary Festival at Althorp, Northamptonshire
Once again, the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre is proud to host the children’s section of the Althorp Literary Festival. We are delighted to present four of the finest children’s authors and illustrators as well as some noisy storytelling and gloriumptiously messy craft activities throughout the day.

Saturday 20 June

Family Fun afternoon at Gipsy House
2pm to 5pm
This traditional garden fete takes place in the magical garden and grounds of the late Roald Dahl’s home. Amongst the treasures in the garden are the hut where Roald Dahl wrote his stories, the original Gypsy Caravan featured in Danny the Champion of the World and the maze. Apart from this the Amersham Brass Band will play for us, Whitchurch Morris Men will dance for us and Mr Marvel the magician will entertain our younger visitors and judge the fancy dress competition. There will be lots of sideshows including coconut shie, hook a frog, sticky darts, splat the rat and tombola. Teas will be served all afternoon and so will Pimms and icecream and the Bernese Carting Society will be present with their wonderful dogs to pet and stroke.
Entrance fee is £5 per adult and £2.50 per child and there is no need to pre-book.

Buckswashling Animation
1.30pm to 2.30pm and 3pm to 4pm
For 7+ year olds:  Animator Will Howes helps you create your own plasticine characters and shows you how to make a short animation sequence.
£2 per participant.

Saturday 27 June

The three little pigs
1.30pm to 2.30pm and 3pm to 4pm
Suitable for all ages: Enjoy Roald Dahl’s version of this classic fairy tale and make your own three little pigs, their house and a big bad wolf to eat them all up!
£2 per person.
