TAKE ONE PICTURE – AN EXHIBITION OF WORK BY PRIMARY SCHOOLS INSPIRED BY RENOIR’S ‘UMBRELLAS’
Until 19 September 2010
Room B
Admission free

This exhibition showcases some of the creative ways in which Renoir’s painting has been used to stimulate imagination and learning across the primary curriculum.

CLOSE EXAMINATION: FAKES, MISTAKES AND DISCOVERIES
30 June – 12 September 2010
Sainsbury Wing
Admission free

What can the scientific examination of paintings tell us about their age, their country of origin and the materials used by the artist? This exhibition offers the chance to discover some of the most intriguing stories behind paintings in the Gallery, as it explores the ways in which advances in scholarship and technology can reveal the misconceptions of the past.
Find out about the painting altered to resemble a Holbein, the Rembrandt that wasn’t, and the rediscovery of a Raphael masterpiece.
