The London Festival of Architecture kicks off this weekend and for the first time, a dedicated weekend of activities have been designed to inspire kids to explore and appreciate design around them. There are scooter trails, a photographic Toddle in the City for younger explorers, and Lego workshops.
Junior Open House Festival is our city’s first ever free and inspiring children’s architecture festival in 2012. The two day festival will turn young people into detectives of architecture – Architectives! by exploring great architecture in the City of London’s Square Mile, and forms part of the 20th anniversary celebrations of Open-City.

  • Inspired by The Developing City exhibition, Pipers Models have designed the iconic skyscrapers of London for you to create! Explore London’s built environment and invent a new vision for 2050!

String-Scape

  • Pull, twist, turn, tie. Using only string, lets weave a web of light and line and to create our own three-dimensional city!

SpaceMakers

  • Roll the dice! Spacemakers is a fast paced, life size game where kids become the architects and race against the clock to create real public spaces.

Toddle in the City

  • A photographic treasure hunt for young children to explore the city. Urban Beings will provide children’s digitial cameras and plenty of clues of what we can find!

Be an ArchiTective!

  • Pick up one of our wonderful DIY activity trails, maps, or amazing activity cards and take yourself on an architectural exploration of the City of London.

Archi-Lenses – Art Frames Workshops

  • Take a tuk tuk to get between the Open City Archi-Lenses and Art Frames workshops at Cheapside and Leadenhall Market, via the Great St Helen’s Sculpture Space. Make your mark on the large-scale installations alongside the City of London, artists, architects and local school children. Location: Leadenhall Market and Cheapside

Shaping Sound
