Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th May

  • Celebration Of Steam
  • Compare the contrast for yourself 150 years of steam technology – from HMS Warrior 1860 the sail and steam powered warship, to a special appearance from the 2009 land speed record breaking British Steam Car!
  • The age of steam – modern and old will be bought to life with talks from Don Wales the land speed record breaking driver and his team, displays of traction engines and road locomotives at work, steam wagon rides, model boat and railway exhibitions and a host of Victorian dock characters.
  • Discover the history of Portsmouth Dockyard as one of the greatest industrial complexes in the world throughout the 18th and 19th centuries with a visit to the Dockyard’s Block Mils*, Dockyard Apprentice exhibition and saw bench and stone crusher displays.
  • Then be entertained by brass bands, morris dancers, street entertainment, more steam talks, traditional fairground rides and craft market complete with a bigger and better Real Ale, Cider and Sausage Festival. Plus entrance to the Historic Dockyard attractions** all make for what promises to be a fantastic day out for all the family!

  • Learn The Ropes at the Mary Rose Museum
  • Find out about the rigging on the Mary Rose and try your hand at making anti-boarding netting and tying knots

Saturday 15 & Sunday 16 May

  • 11am – 12noon & 2pm – 4pm
  • Puppets And Storytelling For Younger Children
  • The story of life on board the Mary Rose told with puppets.
  • FREE with a valid attraction ticket (children must be accompanied by an adult)

Saturday 22 & Sunday 23 May

  • 11am – 12noon & 2pm – 4pm
  • ‘Meet The Barber Surgeon’ at the Mary Rose Museum
  • Find out how he multi-tasked on the Mary Rose: pulling teeth, amputating limbs, shaving the men and mixing medicines!
  • FREE with a valid attraction ticket (children must be accompanied by an adult)

Daily:

  • Follow The Flag – Family Trail on board HMS Warrior 1860
  • Find out about the men who lived and worked on board Warrior.

  • Once the lower deck mess and schoolroom for Warrior’s your officers, Warrior’s Gun Room is now somewhere you can bring your young ‘sailors’ for R&R, including costumed role-play, toys, games and colouring sheets.
