Model Rail Live is a unique family event combining the best in British model railways with the opportunity to see, hear and even ride on real trains. Barrow Hill Roundhouse is the country’s most atmospheric railway museum; home to a superb collection of restored steam, diesel and electric locomotives. For one weekend only it will also host some of the country’s best model railways and guest locomotives.

By public transport:
Chesterfield station is served by regular East Midlands Trains services to/from Sheffield, Nottingham, London St Pancras, Leicester, Derby, Manchester and Liverpool. CrossCountry also links Chesterfield to south-west England, Birmingham, the north-east of England and Scotland.
A free heritage bus shuttle will operate all day between Chesterfield railway station and MODEL RAIL LIVE on both days.
Barrow Hill is ten minutes from J30 or J30A of the M1 motorway. Follow the A619 through Staveley until you see the brown tourist attraction signs for Barrow Hill Roundhouse. Or set your SatNav to our postcode – S43 2PR.
