Celebrate the upcoming Olympics with these fun, creative family workshops at Rich Mix!
In the morning get in volved with Felt-making, as artist Mary Spyrou will help you make felt pictures inspired by the Olympic Games.
Using multicoloured wools you will ‘draw’ your designs with wool, and then with soap and water matt all the fibres together to create a colourful textile which will be decorated with embroidery, beads and sequins.
The pieces will be part of a wall hanging to be displayed at Rich Mix so people can see your work!
Then, how would you like to make your own Olympic football? In Football Craft and Textitles you’ll get to sew and embroider their own fabric football!
They will be making five large fabric footballs in the five Olympic ring colours which will go on display at Rich Mix.
Take inspiration from the names and flags of the participating countries, as well as the symbols and images of the Olympic sports, before transferring your ideas onto the balls with embroidery.
Younger children can use fabric pens to draw on the footballs.
