Early September sees Europe’s biggest celebration of the sustainable lifestyle when the Soil Association’s organic food festival takes over Bristol’s harbour side (Millennium Square, Anchor Square and the Amphitheatre area) for a weekend.
Regular features of the Bristol organic food festival are food and drink stalls (with over 300 companies represented), cookery demonstrations by famous chefs, talks, ‘food cruises’ round the harbour, food trails and competitions.
From 2008, a space has been allocated for organic gardening demonstrations and advice. The festival celebrates a green lifestyle, so there is also a green planet pavilion, and fringe events featuring organic skincare and homeware products and eco-friendly clothing.
The streets around the site are lively with street theatre, music and children’s entertainment. There’s also a vibrant selection of bars, restaurants and arts and leisure facilities.
