Rocket School @ BFI Southbank (26 to 29 July)

rocket-schoolBlast off the summer holidays in lunar style with a week of space adventure and film discovery at BFI Southbank. Every morning, budding film-cadets between the ages of 8 and 12 will be assigned missions that will take them to the cutting edge of film making and to the final frontier of movies.

Learn to storyboard and illustrate space adventures, edit real footage from outer space, create sci-fi animations, make rockets and train to be an astronaut….

The afternoon’s assignments will see the plucky cadets be beamed out of their seats, sucked out of this world and into a fantastic selection of space themed films screened every day.

Day 1…

Space Camp with Punk Science
Train to be an astronaut and launch a rocket with the Science Museum’s hilarious Punk Science team.

Day 2…

Illustration and storyboarding with Vix Southgate
Join Vix Southgate, author and illustrator of “Yuri Gagarin – The First Spaceman” and develop your creative storytelling skills in old skool 2D

Day 3…

Space Mash
Edit your own movie using real footage from space

Day 4…

Muvizu Sci Fi Animation
Join the Muvizu team who are coming all the way from Scotland to help you create beautiful 3D sci-fi animations using their state of the art Muvizu software


Event Info:

Rocket School runs from 10am – 4pm each day, and includes a practical workshop in the morning and a movie in the afternoon.

Suitable for 8 – 12 year olds. Bring a packed lunch and a raincoat

Tickets are £20 per day
