This summer, kids (and grown-ups) across the West Midands will have a chance to feast themselves on film.

Inspired by the classic children’s matinee experience of the 50’s and 60’s, features films sit alongside shorts, music videos, animation workshops and activities which aim to open up impressionable eyes to  a new world of moving image programming.

Highlights are:

A feature version of a Japenese TV series about a cat who discovers that animation is fun but hard work too.
Certificate U. suitable for ages 4 and upwards.

The Red Balloon
Oscar winning classic French feature about Pascal and his friendship with a shiny red balloon.
Certificate PG. Suitable for ages 7 and upwards.

Bugs and Beasts
A herd (or is it a swarm) of short films featuring creatures of all shapes and sizes.
Certificate U. Suitable for ages 4 and upwards.

Fantastic Planet
A cracker-jack selection of strange and wonderful shorts and animation from across the world.
Certificate U. Suitable for ages 7 and upwards.

Magic Box
Day long animation workshops where children will tell the story of the fantastic adventures of the magic box ending with a post-production session and gala screening.
Certificate U. Suitable for 8-12 year olds.
