There are four new stories for you to read, from Horrid Henry creating his own ‘Holympic’ Games to Henry spending a weekend with his arch-enemies!

One of the stories also sees Horrid Henry create his very own scary movie, ‘The Undead Demon Monster Who Would Not Die’! And surely if anyone could make the most horrible scary movie in the world it would be Horrid Henry?

So to help you make your own scary movie too, Henry’s put together a step-by-step guide!

Step One: Get a Scary Idea

Any scary film needs a scary idea behind it! And you’re going to want to make it good so the audience don’t know what to expect!

Ideally try to think of something that can also put your cast (ahem Perfect Peter) into plenty of silly situations, from jumping into mud to shouting that he’s a crybaby!

Step Two: Think of a Scary Name

Whatever you do, nice words are strictly off limits!

You need to pack in as many scary words as you possible can – if they all make sense then that’s a bonus!

Step Three: Always Include Monsters!

Scary movies need scary monsters – whether it’s a vampire, zombie, zombie-vampire or something completely new you’ve made up in your head!

Give it big teeth, long claws, very ugly and you won’t go far wrong! Actually, that description kind of sounds like Moody Margaret!

Step Four: Find a Spooky Location

Location is very important! Abandoned houses, castles or cabins are perfect, especially if they’re really worn down and old – who knows what you might find?

Just make sure you get permission before you use anywhere and send in Perfect Peter first – just in case it is haunted!

Step Five: Put Togther Your Cast

There’s no need to find any Oscar-winners for your film – just make sure they can look scared and are willing to take orders, especially when you want lots of snacks!

Step Six: Use Music

Sometimes you don’t notice it, but music is great at building tension and making you think something scary is going to happen.

Make it sound as creepy as possible. You can even go out of tune – anything to unsettle the audience!

Step Seven: Have a Plot Twist

Nothing is scarier then something unexpected happening!

You can put plot twists anywhere in the film – start, middle, end – and have more than one if you want.

One suggestion would be that two parents realise their so-called ‘perfect’ child is actually a man-eating monster – RARGGGHH!

Step Eight: Use Good Effects

You don’t need to be a whizz at the computer to make good effects, just be imaginative.

Perhaps use loads of water on the garden to make it really muddy – perfect for a squelchy mud monster!

Hilarious film about a group of the most useless superheroes in history, who are called on when a crazed evil genius captures the real superhero.

Filled with hilarious scenes and one-liners, you might not realise how uplifiting Mystery Men is until after you’ve watched it – at the time, you’ll probably be too busy laughing!

Tekkonkinkreet (2006, 12)
Stunning animation based on a popular Japanese comic set in the huge and dangerous Treasure City in which a pair of brothers fight the forces of evil.

Superman (1978, PG)
