Cars 2

cars2-film

Cert: U

FILMCLUB recommended age Rating: All ages

Running Time: 112 mins

Year Produced: 2011

Director: John Lasseter, Brad Lewis

Cast: (voices) Owen Wilson, Larry The Cable Guy, Michael Caine, Emily Mortimer

In the sequel to the massive hit Cars, Lightning McQueen and his rusty sidekick Mater are off to complete in World Grand Prix races in big cities around the globe. They meet a vain Italian racing car, the smooth British spy car Finn McMissile (and get involved in his adventures) and have a big argument that threatens their friendship.

It looks amazing, the spy stuff is good and there are some very funny jokes. Some people think that the Cars movies are not as good as other Pixar films, but that just means they are only lots of fun instead of truly great.

One Life

ONE-LIFE-010

Cert: U

FILMCLUB recommended age Rating: 5+

Running Time: 84 mins

Year Produced: 2011

Director: Michael Gunton, Martha Holmes

Cast: Daniel Craig

This spectacular new documentary was made by the BBC but designed to be seen on cinema screens. They’re going for the big basics of nature here: how animals feed, breed and survive, from the small (frogs) to the big (elephants) and on land, sea and air.

Daniel Craig takes over the narrating duties so often done by David Attenborough in the past, but of course it is the creatures themselves who are the stars: the seals and eagles and hippos…

The photography is amazing – but will this big-screen version make you think as much as the great TV series?
