Jim Carey’s penguin-tastic movie Mr Popper’s Penguins waddles its way on to DVD this week – check out what some FILMCLUB members make of the film!
See what they thought of the film here:
Rosie, aged 10: “WOW!!!! This film is soooo funny I’ve seen it twice before, but still loved it just as much as the first time I watched it. Jim Carrey plays the part of Mr. Popper perfectly as he is really funny and great at acting.
My favourite penguins were Nimrod and Loudy because they both made me laugh as they are so silly and got on Mr. Popper’s nerves even more than the other penguins!
I thought it was really cool (literally) of Mr. Popper to fill his apartment with snow to make the penguins more at home. It would be so much fun! Especially when they were playing ice hockey and they kept falling over it was really funny.
I gave this film 5 stars because it was brilliant acting and is one of my favourite films (as I have a soft spot for penguins) and would happily watch it again and again!”
Rating: 5 out of 5
Charlotte, aged 15: “Directed by the talented Mark Waters and starring hilarious Jim Carrey and Carla Gugino, this film will surely be a winner to anyone that is a fan of classic comedy. I believe that this film will appeal to all of the family – as it is definitely a classic family/comedy film, which will have everyone giggling to the humorous lines.
This film was a definite hit with me as it was amusing yet charming, which kept me hooked by the beak throughout the entire film. I thought that this had a similar storyline to Liar Liar, another brilliant film in which Jim Carrey has starred, as it is about a father finding what truly matters in life – yet some bizarre event happens which makes the film humorous.
I thought that this film was fantastic as it stars one of my all-time favourite actors, Jim Carrey. I also thought the storyline was easy to follow and well planned out. Even from the very beginning there are many witty jokes, which most ages will understand. I would rate this film at 4 stars, as I believe that it is a delightful story which will leave you feeling particularly pleased.”
