Children’s Music Day – 18th July
10am – 4pm
A chance for children to work with professional musicians, & to try out new and exciting musical instruments.
Suitable for age 5 and up.
- African Drumming
- Junk Music – make music with found objects!
- Didgeridoo – An opportunity to learn how to play the most famous Australian instrument and maybe even take one home with you!
Blast-off Space Day – 20th July
10am – 4pm
- Packed full of fun space related activities to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the lunar landing.
- Come along dressed up as your favourite science fiction character and explore the lunar module and bounce your way around the garden on the Harlow Carr Space Hoppers!
- You will also be able to see how rockets fly and find the hidden aliens on the Alien trail.
Children’s Theatre – Alice Through the Looking Glass – 30th July
7:30pm (Doors Open at 6:30)
- Bring along a picnic blanket and some food, and join Alice in the fabulous world beyond the mirror above her fireplace, with songs, poems & memorable characters.
- Call 0845 612 1253 for tickets (advance adult ticket £12, child £8; reductions for families and RHS members).
Family Fortnight – 16th to 29th August
10am – 4pm
Two weeks packed full of fun activities catering for all the family!
Carnival Day (16th August) - Family Fortnight kicks off with a fabulous explosion of colour.
- Come and join in the Carnival Day festivities by coming dressed up – the more colour the better
- Get into the carnival mood and have your face painted, make your very own grass skirt and garlands ready to look the part in the carnival procession
- There will be African drummers to get the rhythm going
- Dan the circus man performing his crazy circus tricks, and
- Krazy Kev the balloonologist extraordinaire!

Japanese Culture Weekend (22nd & 23rd August) - Two days packed full of fun activities catering for all the family
- Including Japanese storytelling, plays, traditional carp kite & origami making
- There is also a chance to see the elusive Harlow Carr dragon walking around the grounds!

Pirate Day (31st August) – Yo-ho-ho and a bottle of FUN! Come dressed up and enjoy a full day of pirate related activities!
