It’s only been a year but it seems like they could be the boyband very soon – it’s One Direction!

Since finishing third in last year’s The X Factor, they quickly signed a record contract with Syco Music. However, we had to wait quite a while for their first single!

One Direction’s debut single What Makes You Beautiful didn’t come out until 11th September 2011, but it was worth the wait!

The single shot to the top of the charts, becoming the fastest-selling single of the year shifting 153,965 copies .

Their album was successful too. Up All Night reached number two on the UK Albums Chart, selling 138,631 copies, the highest for a number two album in 2011 and  it  has now sold almost 400,000 copiesm becoming the the fastest-selling debut album of the year.

It seems as if their success isn’t just limited to the UK either. A recent documentary showed One Direction fever had firmly spread across most of Europe!

They haven’t had time to relax though. They are now starting their debut headline UK tour, which will be going on throughout this month and  January 2012. If ever you needed proof of just how quickly these boys have risen, the tour was sold out in minutes as fans bombarded Ticket Master.

2012 looks set to be even more exciting as the boys head to the States! The group have signed a US record deal with Columbia and their debut album will be released in USA and Canada in March next year.
