With four boy bands in our group of stars fighting to win Popstar of the Year, it’s safe to say that the boy band is back!

After firmly establishing themselves in 2010, The Wanted kicked off 2011 in style with their first headline national tour. The Behind Bars tour saw them perform at sold-out venues across the UK in March and April 2011.

At the same time they were also working on their second studio album and on 13th March released their lead single Gold Forever, which reached number three in the charts.

However, it was their second single that became the calling card for the new album and for the band as a whole.

Released in July, Glad You Came became their second UK number one and stayed in the top ten for 6 weeks, assuring that The Wanted are no one-hit wonder.

They had similar success with their next tune Lightning, which hit number 2 in the charts and was the song they performed live on The X Factor – the sign of any successful act!

The album Battleground reached number 5 in the album charts, but although this was lower than their debut album, it actually sold more much more copies, showing their growing support.

It’s the live shows that have really capped off 2011 for The Wanted though.

As well as a sell-out tour, the boys have performed at T4 On the Beach, V Festival and iTunesFestival, as well as supporting Justin Bieber and Britney Spears.

And to finish off the year in style, they’ll be performing at a private party for Simon Cowell in Barbados, alongside Rihanna – now that’s how you see in 2012!
