Why do some people use wheelchairs?

A helping hand...

Professor Hallux

Here’s what Professor Hallux has to say:

Everybody is different, and everybody’s body is different! The world would be a very boring place if we were all the same. Human beings come in a vast range of colours, shapes and sizes. You get short ones, tall ones, large ones, thin ones and even on occasion, purple spotty ones.

Alright. I might have made that last one up. Being differently-abled is just another way human beings can be different, and there are lots of gadgets that can help; glasses can help you see, hearing aids can help you hear and wheelchairs can help you get about if you have mobility problems. Mobility problems can be caused by all sorts of things; sometimes it’s just how a person was born – or it could have been caused by an accident or illness.

You might be curious about wheelchairs, hearing aids and glasses but remember it’s always pretty rude to stare. But a nice smile is always polite, and everyone can agree about that!
