Wimbledon is back and tennis fever has taken over Britain!
The whole nation has been getting behind Andy Murray who defends his title as Mens’ Singles champion but it’s not just the Mens’ and Womens’ tournaments starting this week – there’s a Junior tournament too that begins this Saturday!
The Junior tournament takes place at the same time as the main tournament and is where the top boys and girls from across the world come to London to compete against one another.
It’s usually a good place to spot who will be the tennis stars of the future. In 1998, Roger Federer won the Junior Boys’ Singles title and since then he’s become one of the greatest tennis player ever!
Britain has also had it’s share of success in the Junior tournament.
Laura Robson won the Girls’ Singles at her first attempt in 2008. Laura now plays in the Womens’ tournament but is missing this year’s championships due to a nasty injury!
The British boys have had less luck – the last Briton to win the Singles was Stanley Matthews way back in 1962!
Who do you think will win Wimbledon this year? Let us know in the comments below.
