In March, Commonwealth Games England launched ‘We Are England’ – a photography competition aimed at finding the ultimate photographs that best represent England in all of its glory. The competition aimed at celebrating everything about England and ‘Englishness’ ahead of the Commonwealth Games that take place later this year in Delhi.
Entrants had to find images that represent England – from a historic English landmark to a traditional English game taking place in a park or even photographs taken live at an English sporting event.
The ‘We Are England’ exhibition coincides with St. George’s day, and the winners have been invited to attend a champagne breakfast at the launch of the exhibition at the SW1 Gallery on Wednesday, April 21st, and will be joined by some of the top Commonwealth Games England athletes and representatives as well as members of the media.
The winners photographs are displayed here:
Under 16s winner was John Somerton and ‘Apples’
Over 17s (amateur) winner was Nick Board and ‘Brighton Pier’
Professional winner was Josh Tucker – ‘London at Dusk, St Pauls from across the Millenium Bridge’
