You may remember us telling you last week about Blue Peter presenter Helen Skelton attempting to walk between the chimneys of Battersea Power Station on a wire the width of a penny! No, she isn’t mad – it’s all to help raise money for Red Nose Day, which is happening on 18th March this year. And after months of training this was the morning Helen was set to attempt to walk across a wire 66 meters above ground.
We’re very happy to announce that Helen did it! It took daredevil Helen just 14 minutes to complete the 150 metre stretch of wire, and she has actually earnt a new record for the highest wire walk by a female in the UK. To watch Helen’s incredible high wire adventure tune in to a special documentary Comic Relief: Girl on Wire on BBC One on Friday 11th March at 7.30pm, plus two Blue Peter Specials on March 7th and 8th featuring the full story of Helen’s record breaking attempt. Go to www.rednoseday.com/girlonwire to support her in this fundraising effort. So you can see her in action now, we’ve got our hands on a special video for you! Check it out below:
