The chances are you may have come across a really fun book by Sam Lloyd called Calm Down, Boris!
This is a cool book all about a loveable – although sometimes overexcited monster- called Boris.
As well as the story, what makes these books really fun is that each book is also a monster puppet! So Boris comes to live right on the page – perfect for him to give you a big slobbery kiss! Urgh!
Well, Boris actually has lots of friends for you to meet and play with too – and they’re just as entertaining as Boris!
So we thought we’d introduce you to the entire gang below.
Monster Mates are written by Sam Lloyd and published by Templar Books. Find out more and buy your copies at monstermates.com
Calm Down, Boris!
Boris is a very loving monster – if only he didn’t get so over-excited!
He frightens everyone away with his over-enthusiasm, and some of the other little monsters in the playground don’t want to play with him . . . until a big, growly dog jumps over the fence, and Boris saves the day!
Turn it up, Doris!
Unlike her big-mouth big brother, Boris, Doris is very shy and quiet.
Everyone tells her to, “Turn it up, Doris!” She doesn’t know how to do it, until Boris is in danger and needs her help!
Wendy the Wide-Mouthed Frog
Here the tradional tale of the big wide-mouthed frog is given the Sam Lloyd treatment. With her big, sparkly mouth and her twinkly jewels, Wendy reckons she’s FAR too good for the jungle she lives in.
She loves to go around rubbishing the other creatures . . . until she comes across Sid the Squid and discovers that he EATS wide-mouthed frogs!
Meet Dudley – he’s a proper little monster!
Help him to choose what to have for breakfast, blow his nose and brush his teeth, as he sings, snots and scoffs his way through the day from morning to bedtime!
You’re not so Scary, Sid!
Sid is a monster who fancies himself as big and scary and a finger-nibbler!
But, when faced with a selection of fluffy bunnies and newborn chicks, he quakes with terror and runs home crying to his mummy who gives him his favourite for tea – fish FINGERS!
Happy Christmas Boris!
Boris is back! This festive frolic sees Santa entrusting Boris to deliver presents to all the little monsters.
Totally enthusiastic, as usual, he might need a bit of help, but Santa-Boris is going to save the day!
Ernie the Eye Monster
Ernie the Eye Monster is looking for his mum, but every monster-mum that he finds is the wrong colour.
Help him find her by looking at all the different colours in the park.
