What’s your favourite Christmas Film?

With Christmas upon us,  a bunch of familiar films will soon be gracing our screens, from Julie Andrews singing a few of her favourite things, to Willy Wonka and his fondness for chocolate – there’s never a dull movie moment over the holidays!

But when you think of Christmas, which films stand out for you?

FILMCLUB – the education charity and in-school club for young people – have just finished putting together the results of a massive poll of its 180,000 school members to see which are the Christmas films you most get excited about.

The fabulously eerie The Nightmare Before Christmas took the top spot for all you secondary schoolers, beating some more tradional treats to the post.

According to Reece,  age 12, Tim Burton’s magical masterpiece scooped the number one slot for having enough dark magic to rival Harry Potter:

Ever since I first saw this film I have been in love with the work of Tim Burton. This is a truly magical film that brings a brilliant story to life”.

For you primary schoolers, Will Ferrell stormed the list with Elf proving a huge hit with under 12’s. One fan was 9 year old Rafia:

“I really liked Elf and I think it is the best Christmas film I have ever seen. It reminds you that you still need some Christmas spirit.”

Here are the top 5 Christmas films, split into primary and secondary school, according to the poll:
