SUMMARY:World Oceans Day
DESCRIPTION:Whilst the National Marine Aquarium has been closed during lockdown\, the team have been working hard behind the scenes making plans to celebrate World Oceans Day on 8 June\, through free online educational activities and events throughout the day that family\, friends and the general community can come together and enjoy. World Ocean Youth Ambassador\, Summer Snell\, will also be on hand to answer all things Ocean! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n9:15am – Rockpooling\nThe team will be live from the fantastic aquarium facility starting the day off with a spot of rockpooling. Watch via the Ocean Conservation Trust’s Facebook Page. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n10:30am – Inky Intrigue\nSquid Dissection – During this session the team will be exploring the body shape and internal structures of these amazing animals. This is a superb opportunity to watch a live dissection\, learn all about interesting molluscs\, and complete scientific drawings. Watch via YouTube link on WODFS website. \n11am – Shark and Turtle Feed\nJoin the Ocean Discovery Rangers at the top of the UK’s largest exhibit\, who will be feeding all the amazing animals\, from the huge Sand Tiger sharks\, to the aquarium’s cheeky Green Turtle. Watch via the National Marine Aquarium Facebook Page. \n1pm – Habitats Create Challenge\nTime to get creative! This is the ‘Habihats Create Challenge’. The team asks that everyone involved wear a fabulous ocean inspired hat! Viewers can watch the short instruction video and some of the tank footage to pick a habitat\, then gather together craft materials and get involved. Viewers will be encouraged to explore Ocean textures\, colours\, 3D elements\, and stunning creature drawings to make the most spectacular World Ocean Day accessory.
