Photomonth @ V&A Museum of Childhood

Childhood: From Paul Trevor*s Eastender Archive

  • To 29 November 2009
  • A selection of photographs drawn from Paul Trevor’s Eastender Archive  documenting life in the East End during the 1970s, 80s and into the 90s.  At the time Trevor*s neighbourhood, Brick Lane, was desperately run down.

Kingsmead Eyes

  • 7 November 2009 to 7 February 2010
  • Kingsmead Eyes is the result of a unique collaboration between photographer Gideon Mendel and pupils from Kingsmead Primary School in Hackney. As part of the project the children documented their world over six months, photographing their friends, families, community and school.  At the same time, Mendel recorded the life of Kingsmead Estate through a series of powerful portraits. Living on the edge of the 2012 Olympic Games site, the schoolchildren have produced some startling photographs of a city in a state of flux.
