It is hard to believe considering some of our most famous monarchs have been female, but did you know that a law still exists that means boys in the Royal Family will always get to the throne before girls, even if the girls are older?
To be fair, it’s a very old law, dating all the way back to 1701!
Well, this law could soon finally be changed as politicians argue it is unfair and doesn’t happen in other countries with royalty.
It is expected then for this law to be changed, meaning the monarch’s oldest child always gets the crown, whether a prince or princess.
However, it could take a while because the law will need to be agreed by all the countries in the Commonwealth!
Fortunately, it doesn’t really affect things at the moment since Prince Charles is next in line for the throne, followed by his eldest son Prince William.
What do you think about this rule?
