Natural History Museum replace Dippy the Dinosaur with biggest blue whale skeleton!

That’s not what the entrance to the Natural History Museum is supposed to look like!


That’s because the beloved replica dinosaur skeleton (Dippy) that used to welcome visitors into the museum is being replaced!

A real blue whale skeleton, hanging from the ceiling of the main entrance hall is going to be the first thing people see when they come to the museum!

The blue whale is the largest animal in the world and the skeleton that they’re using is the biggest in the world! It’s 82 ft!

Many people will be upset about Dippy’s news, but don’t worry! The museum plans to take Dippy ‘on tour so that people all round the country can see him!


Dippy has been at the front of the Natural History Museum since 1979!

The new whale skeleton won’t be up until 2017 so go and see Dippy for the last time while you can!
