There’s a funny new show starting next week we thought we’d tell you about.
Called A.N.T. Farm, it’s a new comedy on Disney Channel following a 11-year-old musical prodigy called Chyna Parks, who attends high school as part of the prestigious A.N.T. (Advanced Natural Talents) programme.
As you might expect, Chyna feels a bit like a fish out of water as she and her fellow A.N.T.s enter the daunting world of high school, three years earlier than expected!
Chyna is played by China Anne McClain, who is a bit of a musical prodigy herself! At only the age of 12 she has already been signed to Hollywood Records as well as landing the star role in this new show.
You can see her talent for yourself in her music video Dynamite below.
We also got in touch with China and the rest of the gange from the show to find out their top tips for school survival – perfect as you get ready to get back to school!

DOES IT MATTER IF YOU STAND OUT FROM THE CROWD AT SCHOOL?
China Anne McClain says: “Personally, I think it’s cool to stand out from the crowd. Don’t worry about what other people think of you if you want to wear something unusual or if you have a different taste in fashion. One time, I wore a really crazy hat to school and everyone stared at me. I could tell they were all thinking, ‘What is that girl wearing on her head?’ But I didn’t care. I just walked through the halls with my crazy hat on – and I had fun.”
WHAT’S THE BEST DAY TO DEAL WITH FIRST DAY NERVES?
Sierra McCormick says: “I’ve suffered from first day nerves. You get butterflies in your stomach and you feel really sick, but you’ve got to fight it. Just relax and tell yourself that school is going to be okay. Try to ease through the day and take everything as it comes. By the end of day one, you’ll figure out that school is not as tough as you thought it would be!”
HOW CAN YOU TELL IF YOUR SCHOOL FRIENDS ARE FOR REAL?
Carlon Jeffery says: “A good friend is a good listener and someone who likes you for who you are. They also know how to make you laugh. I use my humour and comedy to bring a smile to people’s faces. If you do that, people usually want to be around you. However, if your friends aren’t being nice to you or if they treat you bad, don’t let them get you down. Find some other friends to be around.”
HOW DO YOU STUDY A SUBJECT WHEN YOU HATE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT?
China Anne McClain says: “I can definitely relate to this question because Maths is not my favourite subject. It’s horrible! There’s not much you can do about a subject if you hate it, but I try to do that homework first to get it out of the way. If you need help with a subject, ask your parents or a friend to help you – and do study sessions with your peers. Get the worst subject out of the way and then you can focus on something you enjoy.”
WHAT’S THE EASIEST WAY TO MAKE FRIENDS AT SCHOOL?
Carlon Jeffery says: “There is always going to be someone similar to you at school, so try to connect with the person that you think is most like you. Don’t pretend to be someone you’re not. If you’ve got hobbies, tell people about them and find people interested in the same things. If you’re into acting, try to find people into acting or join a drama club at school. It’s a lot easier to make friends if you have similar interests.”
