Beavers are eco-system engineers! They gnaw away at trees, build dams and the dams trap water and create lakes and ponds and changes the landscape.
They are a keystone species – an animal that creates opportunities for loads more animals to live in that environment.
A lot of people think beaver’s eat fish, but they actually eat vegetation – bark, leaves, twigs, but definitely not fish.
In this Tigeropolis Eco-Feature, biologist and natural history presenter, Gillian Burke, and the kids from Ladock Primary School are off to the Cornwall Beaver Project at Woodland Valley Farm in Ladock to find out more about this intelligent creatures.
