Rafael Nadal added to his wins this weekend, taking home his 16th Grand Slam title.
That’s because he won the US Open for third time, just months after winning at the French Open.
“It’s just unbelievable what happened this year,” he said.
The result means that all of this year’s major titles are shared between Nadal and Roger Federer.
Nadal has won 10 French titles, three US Opens, two championships at Wimbledon and one Australian Open, totalling 16.
That’s three behind Roger Federer, who remains at the top of the men’s all-time win list with 19 titles.
After a couple of years with some troubles, injuries, sometimes playing not good – since the beginning of the season it has been very, very emotional.
Nadal was against South Africa’s Kevin Anderson who made it to his very first Grand Slam final. To put that in context, this was Nadal’s 23rd.
