Hunstanton Beaches, Norfolk

  • Hunstanton Beaches, NorfolkHunstanton has long sandy beaches perfect for building sand castles, and if  are more of an intrepid explorer there are plenty of rock pools to be found at the bottom of the cliffs.
  • The beach has been recognised for its quality in its 2010 blue flag award which recognises coastal resorts with good quality water and high standards of beach safety.
  • On the promenade on Sunday afternoons, bands come and play to the sunbathers and passers by.
  • You could also take a sea tour on a World War II amphibious craft.
  • There is something for everyone to be found at Hunstanton.

  • New Quay, West WalesNew Quay is the home of the West Wales Bottle Nose Dolphins.
  • You are able to take a boat trip on either Ermol V OR Ermel VI
  • Ermel VI will take you on a one hour cruise along the Ceredigion Marine Heritage Coast where you will have the chance to see the sea birds which nest on the cliffs and also see other members of the wildlife like the grey seal, Harbour porpoise and the Bottlenose Dolphin.
  • Ermel the V will take you on a two hour boat tour for a full view of the coasts protected area and you have an increased chance of encountering the local wildlife.
  • You will have the chance to ask the Crew and Skipper any questions you may have about the amazing geology and geomorphology, archaeological sites and also the local history and legends.  The tours will provide an exciting and educational day for children of most ages.

  • The Jurassic Coast in an interesting and educational place for any age, you are able to search for fossils amongst the rocks and gain a glimpse at what the animals during the Jurassic Period looked like.
  • There are also opportunities to go rock pooling or crabbing of you are in a rocky area, all you need is a net, a bucket, a long piece of string and some bait.
  • You must remember to put everything that you have caught back in the water after half and hour though.
  • There are also numerous education and visitor centres available to visit along the coast.

  • Bigbury on Sea, South DevonBigbury on sea is situated above the largest sandy beach in South Devon which is perfect for playing on, swimming in and body boarding.
  • Just across the water is the tiny Burgh Island which is accessible through the cause way at low tide or you could take the big wheeled tractor ride across.
  • The area is also considered walkers paradise offering some of the best coastal and estuary walks in the UK. There are also other attractions in the area such as the Blackdown Donkey Sanctuary and the South Pool Church.
  • Nearby is Dartmouth which offers museums, churches and boat trips up and down the River Dart.

  • Also when the tide is low lots of small pools of water are left along the beach, perfect to paddle in for more unsure swimmers.
  • The area is recognised for its wildlife and unique beauty.
  • It is a very traditional and quiet beach, perfect for a quiet day out with the family and the picnic basket.

  • Whitby, North YorkshireWhitby provides good bathing opportunities and acres of rock pools to investigate along the coast.
  • There is also excellent fishing available either from the shore or sea angling.
  • You are able to enjoy a stroll down the beach or through the ancient woodland where there are a variety of well marked trails offering a big selection of walks.
  • And for those Harry Potter fans, Goathland and Grosmont stations were used to provide the setting of Hogwarts station.

  • The seven miles of blue flag award winning beach provide an excellent opportunity for many different activities.
  • The sea is perfect to take a quick dip in and you may be able to spot some members of the natural wildlife like the Silver Y moth and the Sky Lark.
  • If you bring along a body board you may also have the chance to do a bit of boogie boarding.  However, if the orange flag is up in the central or western car park you should not take inflatable’s out.
  • There is also the possibility of having a barbeque on the beach but you must get permission from the Rother District Council in advance.
  • You are also able to bring mans best friend along as long as it stays out of the dog free zones. It is a lovely place to have a family day out.

  • Newquay, CornwallNewquay has a fantastic coastline and a wide range of beaches, some good for surfing, others for swimming and sand castles and others for walking.
  • Crantock Beach is one of the beaches at Newquay and it is perfect for surfers of all abilities, it also provides sheltered bathing a perfect picnic spot for families.
  • Towan Beach is another perfect family spot situated adjacent to the quay, and is also the most sheltered
  • Newquay Beach  is also one of the most picturesque beaches in the area.

  • Mablethorpe, Lincolnshire CoastMablethorpe is an award winning, safe and sandy beach which is defiantly a traditional seaside resort where children can enjoy donkey rides, a trip on the sand train and nearby there is also a seal sanctuary and fairground.
  • The beach is perfect for making sandcastles and a family cricket game and if you need a swim after all that the sea is idyllic, providing the perfect place for a paddle by the shore or a swim.
