I’m reviewing some of my favourite books – one of them is A Pinch of Magic by Michelle Harrison!
Michelle Harrison has created a magical world especially for our heroes- Betty, Fliss and Charlie- three sisters who live with their gran.
Betty is desperate to escape their tiny island of Crowstone, but soon finds out that an ancient curse on their family means none of the women can ever escape.
But Betty has other ideas, and sets about trying to use the special magical items her family have inherited to try and break the spell.
To begin with, it took me a little while to get into the book- the first chapter is more about setting up the curse the girls have been put under.
But as soon as we meet Betty, I was hooked- she’s smart, brave and desperate to find a way she can leave Crowstone and stay alive.
It’s fun to see a magical world develop through the pages, and Michelle Harrison describes it so perfectly, you feel like you live there yourself.
If you love fantasy and adventure stories, this is the book for you!
