Out now on DVD isΒ Hugo, a 3D film directed by Michael Scorsese and based on the popular book The Invention of Hugo Cabret.
So does the film live up to the book? Check out what our Junior Reviewers made of it:
Sam, aged 13: βIβve got to say Hugo is my film of 2011! This is stunning 5 stars out of 5 from me! It was great and some film history was built into it too. Extraordinary and interesting I was left at the end standing up clapping!
Christopher Lee was grand playing the guy in the bookshop, Sacha Baron Cohen was fantastic playing the train inspector and Martin Scorsese was great and did well making this film of history not many people will heard!
It was great 5 stars 5 out of 5 and I recommend this to the whole family!β

Robbie, aged 14: βMartin Scorsese is Hollywood’s best director. You can say what you want about Spielberg, but he’s nowhere near the level of Scorsese. I’d like to see Spielberg, or any other famous director pull this film off as beautifully as he did.
The magic of Hugo flies off the screen and into your heart, as it leaves you feeling wonderful. It doesn’t get boring for a second, and the cast are amazing, especially Sir Ben Kingsley and Sacha Baron Cohen, who give fantastic performances each, even though Cohen’s role is a considerably small part
Overall, if this film does not leave you feeling happy, then let me be the first to say you have no soul. Easily my favourite film of the year. 5 out of 5 stars!β

Matt, aged 11: βWhen I first saw the advert for this film, I was really excited! A movie about clocks… Set in Paris, really got me going! I really enjoyed this film because it was all about clocks, which I happen to really love, and train stations (sort of) but when you see the movie in 3D, you’ll wonder “Is this a dream?” All you need to do is turn the key…β
Rating: 4 out of 5
Poppy, aged 12; βThis film is brilliant, I recommend it to anyone who loves adventure films. It will make you smile and possibly cry, but you will fall in love with it. Martin Scorsese has made this film one to remember, and it will be a family favourite forever.β
Rating: 4 out of 5
Kayleigh, aged 11; β I thought it was a brilliant film and fun packed film and really interesting but some times could get a bit emotional because it is just this boy with his father. If you see I will guarantee you will enjoy it too.β
