Rise of the Planet of the Apes comes swinging in to town on DVD this week too.

Here’s what FILMCLUB member Reece, age 14, thought:

Reece, aged 14: β€œThis is one of the best films of 2011. Never have I seen a CGI film as good as this.

Caesar is an ape with superior intelligence and is the result of medical testing. When his mother was killed at the lab where they lived, Will Rodman decided to take him home and save him from being put down like the other apes.

Over the years, Caesar’s intelligence began to majorly increase and he was even able to do some of the most complex tasks. But after an incident at home, he became to hard to handle and was taken away to a center for dangerous apes.

No one knew this now, but this was a terrible decision…

This is a brilliant performance by James Franco. No one else would be able to fit the role like him. I definitely believe that everyone should watch this or they’ll regret it.”

Rating: 5 out of 5
