When the Empire Windrush set sail from the Caribbean to the UK, it was carrying a wide range of interesting people… and a stowaway seagull called Sam!

The Empire Windrush arrived in Britain from Jamaica on 22 June 1948, carrying over 800 passengers.

These individuals, invited to help rebuild post-war Britain, became known as the Windrush Generation. They faced challenges and hardship but contributed immensely to British culture, public services, and society, shaping modern multicultural Britain.

Join Sam as he explores life on board the ship.

He’s on a mission to ruffle his feathers, stretch his wings and find out everything about these amazing travellers!
