Choosing a new school isn’t just a job for grown-ups. Your questions and feelings matter too! We chatted to pupils at Alleyn’s Regent’s Park and Alleyn’s Hampstead to find out what’s worth asking.

“What was your first day like?”
Nervous? Excited? A bit of both? The pupils we spoke to felt that way too! They told us kind teachers and new friends helped them settle in. Ask how the school helps newcomers feel welcome.

“Can I be myself here?”
Can you share your culture, explore your interests and try something new? Look for somewhere you feel comfortable being YOU.

“Are people kind?”
There’s more to a school than impressive buildings. Ask pupils how people treat each other and what helped them make friends. One pupil told us, “now we’re basically all besties.”

“Who can help if I’m worried or stuck?”
Pupils loved having teachers who helped with tricky work. Find out who you can talk to if you’re feeling sad, need a hand in lessons or aren’t sure what to do.

“What makes learning fun?”
Ask pupils about their favourite teachers and lessons and why they love them. You could even borrow one pupil’s suggestion… ask the science teachers whether they know the whole periodic table!

“What’s for lunch?”
