Hi, Agent Plan-It here, your Town Planning Superhero!
I know just about everything there is to know about town planning but I need your help! Town planning isn’t just about having all the right answers, it’s also about thinking about how the world around us is changing and what changes towns need to make to accommodate this.
The world around us is always changing – from changes in the world’s climate to how we learn and work. Just think of how much more everyone has been using video calls to learn and work recently.
And there are sometimes changes to how we live in our communities – just think of all the ways we’ve changed our behaviours and how places like shops, schools and even your local park have had to adapt to limit the spread of diseases like COVID-19.
Change can be scary but here’s something AMAZING. Change gives us the chance to use our imaginations to think about things in new ways and make the world around us a better place.
That’s where you come in…
I’m setting you a CHALLENGE FOR CHANGE!
What do YOU think we could change to create better and more sustainable communities?
I want to hear your ideas and the ten best ones will each win £50 Amazon vouchers for themselves, as well as for their schools!
Here’s some ideas to get you started…
Changing our environment
How can we create a healthier environment? This could be coming up with ways to reduce waste and pollution to protecting natural, or historic places – as well as thinking about adapting to climate change. How might transport change for the better in the future?
Changing our communities
How can we share spaces more imaginatively? Where we live and how we live can affect the way we feel – what would make us feel better? What changes could we make to houses, shops and schools to make life easier and safer for everyone?
Changing our daily lives
And how can we make it easier for people to travel to work and school, or visit shops or museums? How might businesses change to be more productive and grow more quickly? Could we use technology to make it easier for people to learn, work and communicate?
I want to hear your ideas so get thinking and start the challenge for change!
In no more than 200 words, let me know your thoughts and even solutions.
If you want to add a drawing of your plan or a map, please do.
No idea is a bad idea, and the best – which will be selected by a panel of Town Planning experts, a Fun Kids presenter, and myself of course. No judging panel can work without a Superhero – will win fabulous prizes!
And the best 10 ideas will be recorded and turned into a podcast!
