Doors Open Days is Scotland’s month of free access to buildings you cannot normally get inside, and it runs across every weekend in September.
This weekend, Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th, it is the turn of Angus, Ayrshire, Central Fife, North Lanarkshire, and Inverness, the Black Isle, Ross and Cromarty, with Midlothian and West Dunbartonshire joining in on the Saturday only.
Expect towers, engine rooms, lighthouses, workshops and all the places behind the doors marked private, with guides on hand to tell you what happens in them. It is free and lots of it is drop-in.
