Maybe you’ve got the lowdown on periods and perhaps you’ve heard of something called PMS, right!

So what’s PMS all about? Does it stand for… PURPLE METAL SQUIRRELS? Well… obviously not.

PMS stands for Premenstrual Syndrome and it’s to do with how you might feel around the time of your period.

If you’ve got PMS you might feel more grumpy or sad than usual. You might notice changes to your body too – like having sore boobs or finding your skin is on the spotty side. So what’s going on?

It’s all thanks to hormones. Hormones are chemicals in the body which can trigger changes – and that includes causing your period to start. They can affect your body in lots of other ways too.

Having PMS is pretty normal – around 80% of all girls and women find they notice a few changes to their body or to their mood before their period. Knowing what to expect can make it easier to manage, so a cool idea is to keep a note of your cycle dates.

It can help to take extra care of yourself and if you’re feeling low, do the things which make you feel great – treat yourself to a bubble bath or maybe check out some funny videos.

If you’re finding PMS difficult to handle – don’t worry – you’re not alone.

Your parents or your doctor can help you to manage things so don’t suffer in silence!

And even if you’re shy why not check out the information available online at betty.me?
