Fun Kids Science Weekly is soaring into the skies for special episodes all about the science of aviation.

From the first daring flights to the incredible technology that keeps planes in the air today, Fun Kids Science Weekly is exploring how humans learned to fly and where we might go next…

In each episode, Amy and Dan look at amazing stories, fascinating facts, and the science behind flight, aeronautics and the aviation sector – from the people to build planes to the ground crew at the airports, and find out what it’s like to be a pilot in the 21st century.

In “Hydrogen-Powered Planes?! The Future of Flying Revealed”, Amy Aviation explores Sustainability & Decarbonisation, and we meet Helen from the Civil Aviation Authority. As well as finding out about the people who oversee the planes in our skies, Helen’s role is the Zero Emissions Flight & Hydrogen Challenge Lead and her work focuses on zero-carbon emission flights.

In “A Chimp in the Cargo Hold?! Exploring the Weird World of Plane Cargo”, Amy Aviation explores Air Cargo, and we meet the air freight team at East Midlands Airport, explore the differences between passenger and cargo planes, and experience what it’s like behind the scenes moving goods across the world through the air.

In “Life behind the Scenes at British Airways”, Amy Aviation explores the Design of Passenger Planes, and we meet Latoya and Shivani who help keep the airline flying.

In “How Planes are made”, Amy Aviation explores Wings of All Shapes and Designs, and we meet Andy who’s a plane designer at Airbus.

In “Airport Jobs you never knew existed”, Amy Aviation explores the Wide range of jobs around an Airport, and we meet the team behind the scenes at East Midlands Airport.

In “The Most Important Job at the Airport”, Amy Aviation finds out Everything you need to know about Drones and explores the world of air traffic controllers, and we discover how they are trained with Paul at Global ATS in Gloucester Airport.

In “Inside Rolls Royce’s Jet Engines”, Amy Aviation explores High Tech and AI in Plane Design, and we meet Neha and Harris who are aerospace engineers.

In “Flying Taxis are on their Way“, Amy Aviation explores Air Taxis and the development of eVTOL planes, and we meet Simon, the chief test pilot at Vertical Aerospace, a British company developing the technology. Dan also finds out about the amazing world of test pilots!

In “Are Flying Hotels the Future of Flying?“, Amy Aviation explores Bristol’s aviation history and the birth of Concorde, and Dan answers some of your aviation questions – from flying hotels to can we fly into a rainbow?

In “Live from Aerospace Bristol“, Amy Aviation meets Amy Johnson – one of the world’s most famous woman pilots, and Dan’s at Aerospace Bristol – seeing Concorde and exploring Aviation with Little Stoke Primary School.
